poster for the show. the majorettes are fab.
all
fotos below were taken during the opening night reception on 3/26.

from the street entrance up the steps. the gallery space is on the second
floor.
my name on the wall is surreal.

my stuff were the first things you see at the top of the stairs (product
placement!).
all images are printed on lustre paper with archival ink, laminated with
a faux leather texture (so. creepy. awesome.),
then wrapped around a composite wood board. the whole effect is frameless,
floating, and sturdy as hell. you can
jab the image with a pencil and not leave a single mark on the surface.
to clean? dry dust cloth and furniture polish.
i am totally presenting all my work like this from now on.
after
the above photo, i basically stood around for the next 3 hours. lots of
friends and family showed up so i pretty
much talked non-stop (oblivious to the growing pain of wearing heels).
met lots of cool strangers and fellow artists as well.

foto by my cousin. tilteroonie.

me (on the left) and the coz. the only foto record of my outfit for the
night.
i'm leaning against the wall because i am effing tired at this point.
you can tell i'm tired because my eyes are extra squinty.

this and all following fotos are taken by me. while tired and slightly
swaying about. so excuse the suckiness of the pics.
the place was super crowded earlier -- by this time of night, it was just
the artists and a few die-hard supporters left.
fotos in the right doorway are by neysa
lopez (met her while i submitted my stuff for review).
paintings on the left are by ayesha
rehman (talked with her and her sister for a bit before the show began).

mingle mingle mingle.

guy on the right whom i cut-off in the foto? that's my printer guy. he's
the one who created the floating wood wrap idea.

more of the mingle.
curtains in the back are a stage. sometimes it has sculpture (like this
time) and sometimes there're live performances.

totally love this guy's work. he's robert
nichols.

one robert nichols' work i would love to own.

art nouveau-ish goodness by candice
yoo. the framed pieces on the left is actually one giant image split
into parts.

munnies!

i should've taken a straight-on shot of these. don't know why i didn't.
super-intricate work. almost wood-block designish.

hallway of more art. bright red butts at the end by jan
ometak. popartish fun.

this cracked me up. titled making mountains out of molehills. by
cristina
kartsioukas. she's got some fun collage-ish stuff.

ew with the fuzzy picture. anyway, awesome photography by colter
freeman. yes, the location is the deserted town you saw
in that one history channel program. he went to a town 20 miles outside
of chernobyl.

my fave of the colter freeman pieces. it's a hotel room.

basketball court (another colter freeman). reminded me that i was missing
the march madness semifinals.

at first glance...is it actually...wood? why yes it is. by khalil
sullins.

you see what he did to a piece of wood?! i wanna own this one bad. i can
image myself redesigning an entire room just to showcase this.

at the end of the night...
